International business is an interdisciplinary program, drawing on all areas of business, with a particular focus on international trade, multinational corporations, and foreign direct investment. We provide broadly-educated, flexible graduates with a sound core of the functional areas of business and a passion for understanding the world.

Curriculum
With an international business major, students gain an understanding of the complex forces shaping business today.
We offer you an interdisciplinary approach drawing on all the functional areas of business. Courses include:

Courses that focus on business in one area of the world include:

- East Asian Trade and Investment
- Latin American Business
There is an opportunity to specialize in a region of interest through our Asian Studies or Latin American Studies concentration. There is also a foreign language requirement and, for most students, a built-in minor. You can chose from:

- Russian
A study abroad experience is strongly encouraged. More than 85% of international business graduates study in a foreign country. IB majors have studied in 25 different countries on all six continents in the last decade. Many students have chosen: Argentina, China, France, Italy, Japan and Spain, among others.

Research
One of the many great reasons to choose The University of Scranton is the opportunity to engage in research, often funded by the President’s Fellowships for Summer Research.
Pursue Your Passion and Make a Difference plus or minus
Scranton has a remarkable number of students who go on to become Fulbright Scholars. Fulbright is the U.S. government’s most prestigious scholarship for spending a year studying or teaching overseas following graduation. In fact, The University of Scranton has been recognized as one of the nation’s top producers of Fulbright winners. One of the fundamental tenets of a Jesuit education is service to others. We believe that business has an obligation not only to shareholders, employees, and customers, but also to the community at large.
While there is no service-learning requirement in this major, we encourage students to volunteer in meaningful ways. Our International Business Club is very active in service work.
Students join the Peace Corps working in Guatemala, Paraguay, Cameroon, and Bulgaria or give back through the Jesuit Volunteer Corps.
